Biography
I began drawing everything that interested me as a small boy, and continued drawing, painting and occasionally selling as a young adult. However, my interest and experience in health care led me to choose a career in hospital administration. I held executive positions in five major hospitals across the country during a twenty-five year career. The demands of job and family during those years didn't leave much time for art, but I always dreamed of returning to it.
Southwest Colorado has always been my favorite part of the country. I first visited the San Juans with my parents, and returned nearly every year to hike, backpack, climb and gather material for artwork. With my two sons grown, I was able to move to Montrose in 2003.
Since I retired, I have been able to paint full-time. I am now working primarily in pastel, and am having great fun with the limitless possibilities of this wonderful medium. I paint both outdoors and in the studio, choosing subjects from the diverse landscapes and rich history of southwest Colorado. My influences include pastelists Albert Handell, Richard McKinley and Bruce Gomez. Thanks for visiting!
